Cost of repair
The total cost of repair and reconstruction works is forecast at $163 million for the 2022 Flood Event. This includes emergency repair costs of $18.5 million.
Estimated cost of repair and reconstruction works is $35.5 million for the 2025 Cyclone Alfred Event. This includes emergency repairs of $5.9 million.
Project budgets include administrative costs as well as construction costs.

2025 Cyclone Alfred event projects
We have submitted funding applications for a wide range of sealed and unsealed road repairs, bridge repairs, and landslip restoration works across the Byron Shire resulting from the 2025 Cyclone Alfred Event.

We have received full funding for all damages from the 2022 Flood Event. Funding applications for the long‑term repairs from the 2025 Cyclone Alfred Event have been submitted.
These projects are jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements and administered by NSW Reconstruction Authority.
