Parking Permits

Buy an annual parking permit to park in Byron Bay's pay-parking areas and council car parks. 

Instructions about how to do this online or in person are below.

  • Apply for a new parking permit.
  • Change your vehicle details.

Step 2.Apply or renew a parking permit

Visit the Parking Permit Portal to:

  • Apply for a new permit.
  • Renew a permit. You will not be able to renew if your permit expired over a month ago. 
  • Check your permit details.
  • Change your number plate if you have purchased a new car.

To change your address, email, or credit card details, log in to your PayStay account.

Step 3.Upload your documents 

Problem attaching documents?

  1. Check that an Area has been selected. 
  2. Make sure your document is less than 5MB and your file name is under 25 characters.

Step 4.Submit your application

Problem submitting your application?

  1. Check your credit card details are up to date in PayStay if you need to pay for your permit.
  2. Check you have completed all fields and accepted Terms and Conditions. 

If you're still unable to submit, email attachments to and we will upload on your behalf.

Step 5.Check your email

You will get an email confirming when your permit application has been approved.

Renewal reminders will be sent from Add this to your address book, or check your junk mail folder, to make sure you receive these emails.

Apply in person

Visit our customer service counter 70 Station Street, Mullumbimby and bring:

  • Current car registration.
  • Proof of residency within the Byron Shire.
  • Copy of your Centrelink (blue) Pensioner card or DVA card.
