Water and sewer charges
A usage charge applies to all properties connected to Council water supply and sewer services system.
Usage is recorded through a meter connected to the property.
Residential
- Water usage – residential properties pay a fixed annual access charge plus a volumetric charge (per kilolitre) for all water through the meter
- Sewerage usage - residential properties pay a fixed annual access charge only (no volumetric charge)
For more information on the current charge rates please refer to our Fees and Charges.
Pension rebates
- Ratepayers who are eligible pensioners may be entitled to a concession off the water usage charges. This rebate is mainly taken from the water fixed charge, which is levied on your rates and charges notice.
Non-residential
- Water usage – non-residential properties pay a fixed annual access charge plus a volumetric charge (per kilolitre) for all water through the meter.
- Sewerage usage – non-residential properties pay a fixed annual access charge plus a volumetric charge (per kilolitre). Volumetric usage is calculated using the Sewer Discharge Factor (SDF) which applied to the property and represents the percentage of supplied water which is discharged to the sewer system.
For more information on the current charge rates please refer to our Fees and Charges.
Recycled water
Recycled water charge is $0.01/Kilolitre for Residential and Non-Residential Recycled Water Usage.
Liquid trade waste
-
Liquid trade waste usage charges – these charges apply to non-residential properties which discharge to the sewerage system anything other than sewage of domestic nature. The rate is dependant on the risk the discharge poses to the sewerage system.
-
Liquid trade waste dischargers pay a fixed annual access charge. Higher risk dischargers (category 2 and 3) also pay a volumetric charge (per kilolitre) for all water through the meter.
- For more information on liquid trade waste categories and charge rates please refer to our Liquid Trade Waste page.
Water meter accessibility
Please ensure that the water meter on your property is easy to access and not overgrown with plants or behind a locked gate.
If your water meter is not easily accessed, please contact Council to arrange alternative access or to discuss remote reading options.
If the meter cannot be found or read, usage charges may be averaged based on previous meter readings. The owner may also be charged an estimate read fee and may be liable for costs incurred if Council is required to clear the meter.
