From late October, we will be constructing a new roundabout on Bayshore Drive, Byron Bay.

The roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of the access road to the new TAFE and the IGA Shopping complex at Sunrise, in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate. It is a requirement of a Development Application for Lot 12 Bayshore Drive.

This project is part of the development of a 5.8 hectare Council-owned block of land known as Lot 12 Bayshore Drive.

Works include

• Construction of a new Roundabout
• Fixing the road surfaces
• Construction of new foot paths and replacement of existing footpaths
• Installing garden beds
• Replacing broken kerbs and gutters
• Installation of lighting
• Construction of water supply for new development.
• Construction of Sewer infrastructure for new development.

What to expect

• Timing – Works will occur Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm.
• Noise – At times there will be machinery noise including drilling and vacuum excavation.
• Restricted access/temporary closures – We are creating a slip lane on the Lot 12 site so that during construction, we can have two lanes open to traffic. Traffic control, electronic message boards and signage will be in place throughout the project to keep the community informed and manage access (including deliveries). Note: during the final stage of the project, expected in February/March 2025, traffic access may need to be reduced to one lane.
