Storms & Coastal Management
Byron Shire’s coast is renowned for it’s natural beauty and biological diversity.
Our coastline extends from Billinudgel Nature Reserve in the north to our southern border with Ballina Shire.
Our coast includes coastal waters, rocky and sandy shorelines, dunes, and coastal lakes. It is shaped by wind, waves, tides, and currents, which can result in erosion and inundation of coastal land.
The three main estuaries within the Byron Shire are the Brunswick Estuary, Tallow Creek and Belongil Creek.
