From The Saddle Road to Gulgan Road

Work hours - Monday to Saturday 7am to 6pm.

Works Traffic impacts
  • Minor road widening
  • New road pavement
  • Signage and line marking
  • Drainage work to reduce nuisance flooding including drain clearing and new culvert crossings.
  • Heavy patching - The Saddle Road to James Street (October).

From Monday 13 October to December

  • Mullumbimby Road is CLOSED to all outbound traffic (except school buses, emergency services and waste services) including on weekends, until December 2025.
  • Mullumbimby Road will be open to inbound traffic but closed to outbound traffic from The Saddle Road.
  • Access will be maintained to the industrial estate and McAuleys Lane.

This is necessary because sections of the road corridor are narrow or there is a steep drop-off meaning we cannot build a temporary lane to accommodate two-way traffic.

Alternative routes in and out of Mullumbimby

  • Coolamon Scenic Drive (northbound)
  • Myocum Road (southbound)
  • The Saddle Road (light vehicles - outbound only)

Coolamon Scenic Drive will be maintained to cope with extra traffic. Cautionary signage will be in place.

Local traffic only on McAuleys Lane.

  • Waste collection services will continue as normal.
  • Mullumbimby Road residents should continue to put wheelie bins out and they will be emptied.
  • Residents on The Saddle Road will need to put wheelie bins out on the left-hand side of the road.
  • For other buses you should check with the bus company for pick up and drop off locations.
