Byron Local Environmental Plan LEP 2014

A Local Environmental Plan (LEP) helps Council to:

  • Regulate the ways in which private and public land can be used.
  • Ensure local development is appropriate and environmentally sensitive.
  • Protect land through zoning and development controls.
  • Zone and classify land for a range of uses such as for housing, commercial and industrial development, open space and rural development.

We operate under two LEPs.

From the 1 December 2021, an Environment Protection zone E1, E2, E3 or E4 will be known as Conservation zones C1, C2, C3 or C4. For more information visit Environment zones are being renamed as ‘conservation zones’
