Our deadline for feedback is Monday 12 June, 2023.
We are proposing a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists along Raftons Road Bangalow.
The proposed path will run from Raftons Road into the Bangalow village centre and provide connection to the Bangalow Community Children's Centre.
We would like your feedback on two route options for this shared path.
Feedback closes Monday 12 June, 2023.
Proposed shared path options
The proposed new shared path will run along Raftons Road from Rifle Range Road to the existing footpath opposite 19 Leslie Street, Bangalow.
We then hope to continue the shared path all the way along Raftons Road to the village centre.
This will create a safe and accessible alternative transport route for the local community. It will link residences with the local Community Children's Centre, businesses, workplaces, schools and services.
Construction is subject to grant funding.
Have your say
Take a look at the route options and have your say by completing the online form.
Take the survey
We are also consulting with a range of stakeholders including:
- Residents who live near Raftons Road and Leslie Road.
- Broader community.
- Community committee.
Once we have reviewed your feedback, we will take a report to Council who will endorse the preferred option.
Shared path route options
Both these options are at concept stage only.
Option 1 – Rifle Range Road to Bangalow Community Children’s Centre (North Side without removal of established trees)

Most of the shared path route is on the northern side of the road in the existing grassed verge.
The path moves away from the road in front of 9-11 Raftons Road to avoid impacting on established trees.
This option will result in the loss of 19 car spaces from Raftons Road between Rifle Range Road and Wright Place:
- 11 on the southern side.
- 8 on the northern side.
Option 2 - Rifle Range Road to Bangalow Community Children’s Centre (South Side)

The shared path is on the southern verge of Raftons Road.
It requires the widening of the southern verge by approximately 3.5m between Rifle Range Road and Palm Tree Crescent.
This option will result in the loss of 34 car spaces between Rifle Range Road and Palm Tree Crescent:
- 16 parking spaces on the southern side.
- 18 parking spaces on the northern side.
Third shared path option
A third option was proposed but is no longer viable. It would have involved removing two large, established koala habitat trees in front of 9-11 Raftons Road. Option 1 is designed to protect these Flooded Gum trees.
