Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for people wanting to operate surf schools and kayak tours in the Byron Shire.
The closing date for EOIs is 1 July, 10am.
NPWS and Council are offering six licences for surf schools of varying sizes, and two licences for kayak tours.
In a change from previous years, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is now managing the EOI process rather than Byron Shire Council.
Representatives from NPWS, the Cape Byron Trust and Council will be on the assessment panel.
Surf schools and kakak tours are allowed in the following locations in the Byron Shire:
- Clarkes Beach
- Wategos Beach
- The Pass
- Belongil Beach
- Brunswick Heads Beach
- Main Beach Byron Bay
- New Brighton Beach
- Seven Mile Beach
- Simpsons Creek
- South Brunswick Heads Beach
- South Golden Beach
- Suffolk Park
- Tallow Beach
