Moving Byron is our Transport Strategy from 2022 to 2042

Moving Byron forms part of Council's Integrated Transport Strategy 2022 to 2042.

It takes a 20-year view of our transport network and identifies changes that can provide a better, more sustainable, accessible and safer transport network.

The Moving Byron document was adopted by Council in December 2022.

Summary of the Strategy

Moving Byron is broken into four sections:

1. The Big Picture
2. Connecting Communities
3. Actions
4. Background Information.

The Strategy is based around seven key topics, or 'Future Directions', and they all have at least one 'desired outcome' identified.

Parts 1 and 2

The seven topics are covered in the first two sections of the Strategy (The Big Picture & Connecting Communities). They are:

1. Transport delivery
2. Cycling, walking and active movement
3. Public transport
4. Planning for sustainable transport
5. Safe access
6. Sustainability
7. The way forward

Part 3 - Actions

This section looks at what actions can create the 'desired outcomes' identified. Each action has a timeframe and list of key stakeholders.

Part 4 - Background

This section provides background to the strategy and how it has been developed. It looks at Council's existing movement and access policies as well as:

• Social and Economic Indicators
• Our Regional and Local Transport Networks
• Public Transport Case Studies
• Road safety
• Action priorities
• Transport options
• Sustainability
• Community needs, expectations and aspirations
• Movement patterns in the Shire
• Key Transport Projects
