Area South Landslip restoration works

We are repairing damage caused by the 2022 floods including landslides on Broken Head Road, Possum Shoot Road, St Helena Road, Kings Road, Goonengerry Road, Monet Drive, Binna Burra Road and Coolamon Scenic Drive.

Bayshore Drive upgrade

The $2.9 million upgrade of Bayshore Drive in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate aims to improve road safety.

The project includes major improvements to the road surface as well as parking and stormwater.

Booyong Road Upgrade

A 2.9-kilometre stretch of Booyong Road, starting near the Bangalow Road intersection at Clunes is being upgraded.

Byron Bay Drainage Upgrade Design Project

The detailed design was endorsed with changes at the March 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting. This project informed Council as to how to best prioritise drainage upgrades that target existing deficiencies in the drainage systems.

Announcement : The detailed design was endorsed with changes at the March 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting.

Construction is expected to start in mid-2025. Further information about construction will be provided in the coming months.

Clifford Street intersection safety measures

In late 2024 Council received funding to install traffic lights at the intersection of Clifford Street and Broken Head Road at Suffolk Park to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and other road users.

In March 2025 Councillors resolved to not go ahead with the installation of traffic signals.

Coogera Circuit Detention Basin Upgrade – Suffolk Park

We are upgrading the Coogera Circuit Detention Basin to reduce the risk of the basin flooding after big rain events.

Announcement : Council will be doing work near 32 Beech Drive, Suffolk Park from 12 May 2025. Work is expected to be completed by mid-June 2025 (weather permitting). Please expect some traffic delays and disruption to pedestrian access near the work site.

Coopers Creek Road Flood Restoration

We are repairing damage on Coopers Creek Road Caused by the 2022 flood event. This work includes culverts, landslips and pavement works.

Coopers Lane culvert repairs

We are repairing the Coopers Lane culvert in Main Arm that was damaged during the 2022 floods.

This project is due to start in mid 2025 and be completed by October 2025.

Coopers Shoot & Picadilly Hill Road Shoulder Repairs

We are repairing sections of road and drainage on Coopers Shoot and Picadilly Hill Road from damage caused in the 2022 flood event.

This project is due to start in mid 2025 and expected to be completed in August 2025
