Local Heritage Places Funding 2023 to 2024

Is your property a heritage item or is it within a heritage conservation zone? This year's Local Heritage Places Grant program is now open.

About the grants

The Local Heritage Places Grant program aims to raise awareness of heritage conservation, with a funding contribution from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.

We have grants available between $500 to $4,000 for projects that will enhance individual places, buildings and historic streetscapes and will promote appreciation of Byron Shire’s history. The available funding will be dependent on the number and type of applications received.

Bangalow Village

The focus for the 2023-24 Local Heritage Places Grants is conservation works that enhance individual places, buildings and the historic streetscapes of Bangalow.

This includes buildings within the Bangalow Heritage Conservation Areas that will in turn promote and foster the community’s and visitor’s appreciation of the village.

While the focus is to encourage positive work on heritage within Bangalow, owners of heritage properties in other parts of the Shire are encouraged to apply as these will also be considered.

Successful applicants will need to contribute one dollar for every dollar provided by the grant, and the restoration work must be completed by 30 March 2024.

The grant guidelines outline the requirements for submitting an application.
