Display or storage of goods on footpath

If you want to use the footpath or other public places outside your business to store or display goods, you will need to apply for approval.

Step 2.Get approval to use Council land

Complete the form to get approval to use Council land. You will need to include a site plan.

Step 3.Apply to display or store good on footpath

You will need to include:

  1. Approval to use Council land.
  2. A site plan.
  3. Photographs of the outdoor area and proposed display or storage items.
  4. Certificate of Currency of appropriate public liability insurance. At least $20 million coverage that extends to all proposed footpath activity.
  5. Consent from the property owner of the business.
  6. Other documentation as required.

Fees are paid on submission of this form.

Step 4.On approval of an application

If your application is approved, you will receive a license that includes operational conditions. It is your responsibility to ensure these conditions are met. 

Importantly:

  1. You must display your approval so it can be viewed by the public.
  2. You must pay the annual license fees. These are invoiced quarterly. Licenses may be cancelled due to non-payment of fees.

    It is your responsibility to ensure these conditions are met. 

Things to note

  1. Public liability insurance must be kept current throughout the life of the approval.
  2. Permits are not transferable. You will need to submit a new application if there is a Change of Licensee and/or Trading Name.
