We are looking at ways to improve parking and beach access in New Brighton.

We have identified several locations where there is potential to increase parking capacity and we are interested in hearing what you think about these proposals.

Parking challenges in New Brighton

Creating more parking near beach areas is not possible for several reasons:

  • Lack of public space.
  • Narrow roads and housing developments not designed to cater for beachgoers and large numbers of visitors.
  • Sensitive beach (dune) and bush environments.

What areas does the proposal include?

We are interested in hearing from you about the following areas:

  • The Esplanade south
  • Ocean Avenue
  • Park Street
  • North Head Road carpark.

We acknowledge there are other areas of New Brighton where parking is problematic. This includes next to the creek on River Street, opposite the shop and further along the creek on New Brighton Road.
