Volunteering is a wonderful way to contribute to your community.

Many of the organisations listed on this page offer training and often experience is not required

 

The Byron Community Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation. It has over 300 volunteers.

The Byron Community Centre offers a platform called the Volunteer Hub. This hub matches volunteers' interests and skills with community organisations that need their help. 

If you want to volunteer, this is a great place to start looking. 

Council partners with many groups to support sustainability and environmental projects.

Brunswick Valley Landcare

Brunswick Valley Landcare (BVL) is a volunteer organisation focused on natural resource management in the Byron Shire. They run community projects and support 32 local Landcare groups across the Shire.

The Byron Community Centre is a not-for-profit organisation run with the help of 300+ volunteers.

Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre 

Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation. It provides community support to people in Mullumbimby and area.

The types of volunteer work available at the Centre include:

  • Community Support Assistant
  • Food Recovery Sorting Team Member
  • Garden Maintenance
  • Cleaner
  • Event volunteer
  • Activity Leader
  • Computer Support Volunteers

Byron Youth Service

Byron Youth Service (BYS) is a not-for-profit charity which provides services for young people between the ages of 12-24 years. BYS operates both the Byron Youth Activity Centre (YAC) in Byron Bay and The Cottage in Mullumbimby.

BYS provides volunteer opportunities for young people between 18-25 years of age.

There are libraries at Brunswick Heads, Byron Bay and Mullumbimby. 

You can volunteer with Friends of Libraries to:

  • Get involved in local literary and cultural events
  • Be social and meet new people
  • Be involved in building a community you can be proud of

There are Visitor Information Centres at Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay.
