Stronger Country Communities Grants

Overview

Byron Shire Council has been applying for Stronger Country Communities grant funding since its inception in 2017.

We have successfully obtained 16 grants, worth $2,900,503. These have directly contributed to the construction and upgrade of numerous community facilities across the Shire.

In 2019, Council was successful in obtaining two new grants through Round 3 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund program.

Worth a total of $197,396, these two grants continue our commitment to provide new and updated facilities for the community.

Ocean Shores Community Centre

One of the grants involves upgrade works to the Ocean Shores Community Centre, to increase spaces for youth and community services in Ocean Shores.  This includes:

  • a new roof
  • extra meeting rooms
  • covering for the verandah
  • accessible pathway from Rajah Road.

Bayshore Drive Pocket Park

The other grant will provide a much needed public green space in the Byron Arts and Industry Precinct.

Situated on the corner of Bayshore Drive and Banksia Street, Council will design and build a pocket park, delivering the first project from the Byron Arts and Industry Precinct Plan.
