The Office of Local Government prescribed a Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW (Model CoMP).
The Model CoMP contains both mandatory and non-mandatory provisions.
Council must adopt a code of meeting practice that incorporates the mandatory provisions of the 2025 Model CoMP no later than 31 December 2025.
Council’s meeting code must not contain provisions that are inconsistent with the mandatory provisions.
Council’s meeting code may incorporate the non-mandatory provisions of the Model Meeting Code, and any other supplementary provisions adopted by the council.
The Draft Code of Meeting Practice includes the following provisions:
- Mandatory (black font)
- Non-mandatory (red font)
- Supplementary (teal font).
