Rail bridge upgrade Friday Hut Road Binna Burra

The NSW Government plans to upgrade the Friday Hut Road rail bridge in Binna Burra. 

The upgrade aims to improve 

  • safety
  • accessibility
  • efficiency.

About the works

UGLRL, on behalf of Transport for NSW is upgrading the rail bridge

Works will include replacing the current timber bridge with a steel arch bridge and widen the bridge to allow for safer traffic use. 

The proposed work will take approximately eight months to complete and is expected to take place from August 2025 to April 2026.

The proposed work involves:

  • demolition of the existing structure
  • construction of a multi-plate arch bridge beneath the current road alignment, involving approximately one
  • metre of excavation
  • upgrading the bridge to current engineering and road standards
  • relocation of services as necessary.

Detour

The bridge will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians during the work.

A detour will be in place. The proposed 5-minute detour is available via Dudgeons Lane, Off Lismore Road.

Community Engagement

Community and stakeholders are being consulted to understand the impact of the proposed works.

Consultation is open via the NSW Governments Have Your Say platform from 23 June to 20 July 2025.
