Byron Shire Flying-fox Camp Management Plan

The Byron Shire Flying-fox Camp Management Plan helps us address community concerns and support ecological values.

It outlines strategies to manage flying-fox impacts and ensure their conservation in the Byron Shire.

We are working with community members to help manage camps through our Flying-Fox Camp Management Plan.

Detailed information on all known camps, also known as roosts, in the Shire can be found in the roost plan.

We have developed Vegetation Management Plans for each camp.

To date 2.3 hectares of new habitat has been planted and 5 hectares of habitat has been restored. Pest animal management and erosion control is also carried out at the camps to improve the natural environment.
