Take care on the roads and check the flood cameras

The Byron Shire catchment is certainly wet after a week of rain, and some heavy falls overnight.

The Bureau of Meteorology reported that some parts of the Shire, including Main Arm, received more than 100mm in the 24 hours to 9am this morning, resulting in flash flooding.

Marshalls Creek at Billinudgel peaked at 2.18m at 6:20am this morning.

Council’s road teams have been responding to reports of trees across roads, and flooded roads and causeways.

Essential repairs will be done as soon as possible after the rain stops.  This follows clean-up work in the Federal, Coorabell and Eureka areas from the storms last week.

Flood cameras on Left Bank Road, Main Arm Road and Myocum Road are working, and drivers should check Council’s Emergency Dashboard or the Live Traffic website before their trip to see if there is water on the roads.

Information about weather, flood cameras, and SES advice is also available on Council’s Emergency Dashboard.
