Last chance to provide feedback on budget and operational plan

People interested in making a submission on Council’s budget for next year, along with its operational plan and long-term financial plan have until Sunday, 31 May.

These documents are key to the work Council staff will do next year and into the future and so far more than 130 people have shared their thoughts.

Big waves are doing some damage on Byron Shire beaches

The big swells over the last week are leaving their mark on Byron Shire beaches with huge losses of sand and severely eroded dunes in some areas.

The most impacted beaches are New Brighton and Suffolk Park.

Beach access paths have also been damaged and in places there is now a very steep drop to get onto the beach.

Town centre businesses remain open - Byron Drainage Upgrade

The drainage upgrade is progressing in Byron Bay’s town centre with most of the drainage work in the rail corridor and South Lawson Street Car Park now complete.

Although the intersection at Jonson Street and Byron Street is closed to through traffic, while the major drainage upgrade is underway, shops are open, and everyone is encouraged to support local businesses.
