We understand that living close to flying-foxes can be difficult, here are some tips for those living near camps:

  • Bring your washing in at night.
  • Park your cars under shelter when possible.
  • Use a microfibre cloth with warm soapy water to wash excrement off your car.
  • Bat poo is acidic however damage to paintwork can be avoided if you can wash it off promptly.
  • Keep doors and windows closed at dawn and dusk to reduce impacts during fly-in and fly-out.
  • When possible, double glaze windows and insulate your house to minimise the noise experienced.
  • Remove or cover fruit and flowers on fruiting and flowering trees on your property with wildlife friendly netting.
  • Keep dogs and cats inside at night. Store their food and water indoors when possible.
  • Move quietly near roost sites to avoid disturbance. Flying-foxes make more noise when disturbed.
