Do you go to markets in the Byron Shire. Are you a stallholder? Perhaps you live near a regular market?
You might be interested in our Draft Sustainable Community Markets Policy which is being reviewed and is on public exhibition.
The Draft Sustainable Community Markets Policy relates specifically to eight markets that are held on Council-managed or owned land in the Byron Shire.
These markets are:
- Byron Bay Community Market
- Byron Bay Artisan Market
- Byron Bay Foreshore Artisan Markets
- Farmers markets at Byron Bay, Bangalow, New Brighton
- Brunswick Heads Community Market
- Mullumbimby Community Market.
The aim of the policy is to make sure the markets operate well with respect to things such as public safety, impact on nearby residents and businesses and the environment.
It sets out the frequency, operating times and types of markets that are allowed at approved locations in the Byron Shire.
The Sustainable Community Markets Policy is updated every five years and changes in this review are recognising new locations of:
- Byron Bay Community Market from the Butler Street Reserve to the Byron Bay Rail Corridor and Railway Park.
- Bangalow Farmer's Market to Piccabeen Park.
