Drainage on Gloria Street (west of Yelgun Creek) has now been upgraded.
Council upgraded drainage at Gloria Street, South Golden Beach (west of Yelgun Creek) in early 2026.
This involved installation of kerb and gutter, drainage channels and erosion protection around drainage infrastructure.
The upgrades aim to improve drainage of stormwater after heavy rain. However, it will not stop flooding, but it will improve how fast water drains away and reduces nuisance flooding and water ponding in the street and in verges.
Council upgraded drainage on Gloria Street (east of Yelgun Creek) in late 2025. This involved design and investigation work, and installation of two new infiltration pits and six pipes.
This project cost $200,000 and has been funded by Council under the Stormwater Drainage Reserve.
This project is separate to the surveying South Golden Beach drainage easements project. Separate studies and investigations of how we can improve drainage across the Shire are underway, these are long-term projects that require separate significant funding investment by the NSW Government.
