The community is invited to participate in a review of the Byron Shire Community Strategic Plan (CSP) 2032.

The CSP sets out the community’s priorities, aspirations, and vision to inform Council’s key plans and strategies for the next ten years.

This is a community plan and will help shape the future of Byron Shire for people who live, work, and play here.

The Community Strategic Plan addresses four key questions for the community:

  1. Where are we now?

  2. Where do we want to be in ten years’ time?

  3. How will we get there?

  4. How will we know when we have arrived?

The community provided feedback into the CSP in 2022 and it’s time to check in that the CSP is reflective of the needs and desires of the community.

“Events over the last two years have had a lasting impact on our community and we are eager to check in again to ensure the CSP still reflects what the community envisions for the next ten years,” Esmeralda Davis, Director Corporate and Community Services, said.

Council has a custodial role in preparing the plan on behalf of the community. The aspirations identified may not solely fall under Council’s responsibility. Other partners, such as state agencies and community groups, may also be responsible for delivering the long term objectives of the Plan.

“Your feedback will directly influence the CSP and will guide decisions and actions toward these desired outcomes for the community,” Ms Davis said.

Community engagement for the CSP is set to get underway with a range of ways available for people to share their feedback including an online survey and market stalls.

People can complete the online survey by visiting the Your Say section of Council’s website.

Further information will also be made available on Council’s website and updated regularly as the program progresses.

The survey closes on 1 May 2024.
