We are asking for your input on options for the off-leash dog area at Heritage Park Mullumbimby.
Take a look at the options below and provide your feedback using the online form.
Current off-lead areas
Currently dogs are allowed to be off lead in a section of Heritage Park, that includes the children’s playground.
Maintaining this space as a dog off leash area is not possible because:
- Dogs off-leash must stay 10m away from a playground and 5m away from a pedestrian path.
- A pedestrian path will soon be constructed through the middle of the designated off-leash area.
Options for dog exercise areas
We'd like you to consider the following options and then provide your feedback using the online form.
- Now that we have a new off-leash dog area in Mullumbimby near the community gardens, do we need to retain the current off-lead dog exercise area in Heritage Park?
- Do we fence the off-leash dog area?
- Do we move the off-lead area further away from the children’s playground where it can remain unfenced?
- Do we allow dogs to walk on-lead through the Maslen Arboretum?
Information received as part of this consultation will be provided to the Council as part of a report. Councillors will decide on the next steps.
The following survey will take around five minutes to complete.
