Changes to rural community title development controls

Consultation closed Monday 19 December 2022. A report will go to Council 9 February.

The changes to Chapter D2 Residential Accommodation and Ancillary Development in Rural Zones of the Byron Development Control Plan 2014 will:

  • Allow secondary dwellings and dual occupancies on rural community title sites.
  • Explain vegetation management plan requirements.
  • Explain the development application process for the change.

The changes are in line with the amendment to Byron Local Environmental Plan LEP 2014, which is expected to be completed in early 2023.


Consultation on the changes closed on 19 December 2022. Three submissions were received.

A submissions report will be considered by Council at the 9 February 2023 Planning meeting.  The agenda for the meeting will be available a week prior on our agendas and minutes webpage
