A drive-in COVID-19 testing clinic is operating at the Cavanbah Centre, Byron Bay.When entering a Council facility or venue you must comply with current public health orders. This includes being fully vaccinated to enter the Byron and Mullumbimby pools, libraries, Cavanbah Centre, tip shop and Council Chambers.

Local government elections
We are doing a major upgrade to the stormwater drainage network across Lighthouse Road, Paterson Street and Kipling Street, Byron Bay.
Work started in August 2021 and will be finished in February 2022.
The works were expected to take four months to complete but there have been some delays because of COVID-19.
There will be minor traffic delays when traffic is reduced to one lane. Detours will be in place during critical works.
The Lighthouse Road footpath will remain open to pedestrians.
Parking will be unavailable on the eastern side of Paterson Street for the duration of the works.
Works will take place on Paterson Street, Kipling Street and Lighthouse Road from the Captain Cook Carpark to Massinger Street. They include:
Works will reduce stormwater runoff that currently comes down from Lighthouse Road into Clarkes Beach Caravan Park and then onto Clarkes Beach.
Once upgraded, the stormwater network will capture, detain and treat runoff from the road and surrounding properties.
$1.4 million grant from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
