Balemo Drive Ocean Shores - new shared path

Project: a new shared path for Balemo Drive, Ocean Shores.
Timeline: works on Stage 1 (at the Orana Road end of Balemo Drive) to commence mid-May 2019.
Completion: scheduled for June 2019.
Council received NSW Government funding assistance through the Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) Connecting Centres (Cycling Infrastructure) grant program towards construction of a new shared path on Balemo Drive, Ocean Shores.  Construction of Stage 1 of the new path - which covers approximately 900m of shared path – is set to get underway in mid- May, with completion scheduled for June 2019.

Stage 1 works mainly impact on the eastern side of Balemo Drive,  where the new path will run along the road reserve. Gardens, vegetation, trees and some driveways may require works, removal or relocation to accommodate the new path.  While construction is underway, residents will be required to park on the street and there may be some disruptions to traffic during this time.

Council hopes to attract funding for Stage 2 of the new path in the near future and is committed to completion of the entire 2.5km of new shared path to increase safety, and improve connectivity in this area and with other shared paths in Ocean Shores as well as the parks, Ocean Shores Shopping Centre, Community Centre, Brunswick Heads bike path and Billinudgel.
