Main Arm road improvements

  • Project value$4.75 million
  • Project scheduleSeptember 2022 - April 2023

Major roadwork is being done on Main Arm Road from September 2022 to April 2023.

The purpose of this roadwork is to improve safety for all people travelling on Main Arm Road, as well as to raise a section of the road to make it less susceptible to nuisance flooding.

Some repairs and improvements will also be made to infrastructure that was damaged in the 2022 floods.

The work includes:

  • Road widening and surface repairs
  • Guardrails in some places
  • Upgrade of the intersection at Coolamon Scenic Drive, Pine Avenue and Chinbible Avenue
  • Extending safety barriers on Palmwoods Bridge and Williams Bridge
  • Raising a section of Main Arm Road west of Sherrys Bridge to improve flood immunity.

This work is funded by:

  • Transport for NSW Fixing Country Roads program - $3.45 million (for safety improvements)
  • NSW Government Roads and Infrastructure Election Commitment - $1.3 million (for road reconstruction)

Tree removal

As part of the road work will need to remove 29 trees.

To compensate we are partnering with Brunswick Valley Landcare to plant 276 rainforest trees near Sherrys Bridge.
