Bush Fire Risk Management Plan

The Bush Fire Risk Management Plan covers the Ballina, Byron and Tweed local government areas. It includes information about bush fire risk and threat to local areas and specifies works to be done to manage bush fire risk in these areas.

Open air burning

Our policy is to minimise burning off in Byron Shire. Find information about how to apply for a fire permit and tips to reduce burning off.

Floodplain management aims to reduce the impact of floods on individuals and the community as a whole.

Bush regeneration

Bush regeneration on Council land is a high priority action in the Byron Shire. This is identified in the Byron Biodiversity Conservation Strategy.
