The revised Byron Shire Rural Land Use Strategy and appendices were first forwarded to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in December 2017, for endorsement. The Department’s response in February 2018 identified several non-policy matters requiring clarification and/or additional information in the Strategy. The matters were addressed and an updated Strategy and ‘Supporting Background Information’ were resubmitted to the Department on 20 March 2018.
The Department advised of the Strategy’s approval on 13 June 2018 subject to several additional non-policy amendments. One amendment was to remove Action 18 relating to developing a policy framework for unauthorised dwellings. The amendments have been made and the document resubmitted.
