Residential Strategy

The Residential Strategy provides a vision and framework for how we deliver future housing in our towns and villages over the next 20 years.

We want residents to feel part of a community where there is a choice of homes to suit their current and future needs.

Current Status

At 14 March 2024 meeting, Council resolved to approve the Residential Strategy 2041, with amendments, and submit it to the Dept Planning, Housing & Infrastructure for their endorsement.

We are updating the Strategy as per Council's decision.

Strategy Refresh

We revised the Residential Strategy that was adopted by Council in 2020 but never endorsed by the state government. Endorsement is required so that rezoning proposals for residential investigation areas may be progressed.

The Residential Strategy refresh considered:

A report on the feedback received on the Housing Options Paper was considered at the 14 December 2023 Council meeting.

The ‘refreshed’ Residential Strategy was reported to Council’s 14 March 2024 Planning meeting for consideration and decision.
