The Byron Bay Bypass project has undergone a rigorous planning and environmental approval process. This page provides information about the current approvals in place for each stage of the project.
The Byron Bay Bypass road project includes works extending from the Shirley Street, Lawson Street and Butler Street intersection, through to the Browning Street and Jonson Street intersection.
The following approvals apply to the Bypass project as a whole, including Stages 1 through to 4 of construction.
In addition to this, the Environmental Impact Statement applies to the whole project.

In addition to the above, Stage 2 of the Byron Bay Bypass project is subject to a number of approvals. The table below details this.
Works planned for Stage 2 include works within the SEPP 14 wetland boundary of the Butler Street road reserve and part of the Casino-Murwillumbah Railway Line Corridor. Stage 2 is due to begin in December 2019.
