Climate Conversations

Climate Conversations invited Northern Rivers artists to collaborate with community and explore ways we can adapt, re-organise, and evolve in the face of climate change through the arts.

The biennial event was held throughout August 2023.

Artists Samantha Moss, Jess Poulsen and Shona Wilson were selected for the $5000 commission for their project, Mending and Tending: Art that works for nature.

Workshops and talks

Alongside the exhibition and talks held at Lone Goat Gallery in Byron, the three local artists hosted a number of workshops at Torakina Nature Reserve in Brunswick Heads.

The workshops encouraged the local community to engage with nature and the elements, and explore the natural ebbs, flows, growth, and decay as it adapts to the surrounding environment.

Thank you to all those who attended the inaugural Climate Conversations events and workshops over the month of August.

Next Climate Conversations

The next Climate Conversations will be held in 2025.

Expressions of interest will start in mid 2024 for those artists and creatives interested in collaborating on future commissions.
