Primary Producers Special Disaster Grants

Primary producers recovering from the devastating impacts of floods may be eligible for Special Disaster Grants of up to $75,000.

Rural Landholders Grant

Applications for grants of up to $25,000 are open until 30 June 2023 for impacted rural landholders and oyster farmers who are not currently eligible for assistance under existing programs. Rural landholders must be able to demonstrate losses and damage beyond their place of residence.

BizRebuild program

Eligible local businesses can apply for vouchers as part of the BizRebuild program, an initiative of the Business Council of Australia to help small businesses who have been impacted by the floods. 


Property Assessment and Demolition Program

The Property Assessment and Demolition (PAD) Program will provide free structural assessments for eligible insured and uninsured residential, small business or primary producer property owners. Properties must be assessed by the State Emergency Service and deemed damaged (slight, moderate or severe) or destroyed.

Northern Rivers grant for medium sized businesses

Grants of up to $200,000 are available for medium-sized businesses (21-199 full time employees) and not-for-profit organisations to help pay for the costs of clean-up and reinstatement of operations.

Applications close on 30 June 2023.

Strengthen your business after the floods

Strengthening Business is a service under the Business Australia AusIndustry Entrepreneurs' Programme that connects you with experts to make your business stronger, more resilient and better prepared for the future.

Strengthening Business provides support to businesses impacted by the 2022 floods and offers a facilitation service, which will connect you to a dedicated facilitator.

To better understand the implications of recent flood events on businesses and various industry sectors in Byron Shire, Council conducted a survey from Thursday 7 April to Wednesday 4 May 2022.
