Byron Shire Event Guide outlines what you should think about in order to get approval from Council to hold your event. Each section of this guide has a table with Good:Better:Best scenarios to help guide your event planning and management, and information on how to make your event more sustainable.
The Byron Shire Event Guide is designed to make event decision and planning processes easier. It provides information and approval timelines so organisers can feel confident they are informed, to create an event that is both aligned with our community’s values and has the best chances of success.

What's on in our Shire
Every weekend in the Byron Shire there are a number of events taking place, including community activities, business events and large internationally-recognised festivals. Approximately 364,000 people attend these events, festivals and activities.
Some events, such as Bluesfest, the Byron Writers Festival and the Byron Bay Film Festival, have grown into nationally or internationally significant events.
Events are not just about the large festivals, but also include small community activities and gatherings. Some of our towns and villages are known for their community events such as the Brunswick Old and Gold Festival, the Bangalow Billy Cart Derby, and the Mullum Music Festival.
Other events reflect the culture and creativity of our shire. These include Renew Fest, Byron Spirit Festival, Byron Bay Japan Festival and the Chincogan Charge.
