Youth Council
Byron Shire Council is looking for young people aged between 12 and 21 years of age who’d like to be part of the new Youth Council.
If you’ve got ideas, passion and a point of view to express…if you want to improve youth facilities… run youth activities in the Shire… want to have input into Council decision making… or just want to be part of community issues like improving the environment, then you should consider nominating for the Byron Shire Youth Council.
We’re looking for up to 15 people who want to make a difference to the way young people are supported in our community.
You don’t need any previous experience or skills. In fact we’re keen to have a Youth Council that includes young people from all sorts of backgrounds and with different life experiences.
The purpose of the Youth Council will be to ….
- Help organise activities and projects that affect young people; and
- Help Council to respond effectively to youth issues and needs.
You’ll be provided with training and support along with access to a budget to help the Youth Council deliver a range of projects.
This is a fabulous opportunity to make a difference in your community!
An Information Sheet and Application Form is available for downloading from this page. If you want to find out more, or would like help with the application, you can contact our Youth Development Officer, Rita on 66859342 or email rita.youssefprice@byron.nsw.gov.au
