Annual Kerbside Clean Up

June/July 2009

During June and July 2009, Council will be conducting a Kerbside Clean Up service. This service is only available to households that receive a weekly Council household waste service.

Your waste must be placed at the kerb before the collection starts.

Council can not return to collect material put out after the collection starts.

Clean Up Information

Two categories of waste will be collected. General bulky items will be disposed to landfill. Metal goods will be recycled

  • Bulky Items only - this collection is not for items that will fit in your wheelie bin. Small items and loose material can not be collected.
  • Two Neat Piles - one for bulky waste item and one for metal items. Limit of 1 cubic metre in each pile. Maximum length of any item is 1.8 metres (except mattresses).
  • No Hazardous Items - Refrigerators must have doors removed or taped securely. No chemicals, fuels, gas bottles or paints. No broken glass.
  • Safety - This material is manually handled. Material must be able to be safely lifted by two persons.  Help prevent injuries - avoid sharp edges or dangerous items.
  • Fridges and freezers - will be collected separately and degassed prior to recycling.

  • Chemical / Hazardous Wastes
  • Building / Renovation Materials

  • Tree Prunings / Garden Waste
  • Concrete, Bricks or Blocks
  • Batteries or Gas Bottles
  • Fuels or Oils
  • Commercial / Industrial Waste
  • Items exceeding 1.8m – excluding mattresses
  • Small items not bagged or boxed
  • Tyres or Car Parts
  • Food Scraps / Packaging

Two trucks - will be used to do the collection. One truck is for waste and the other is for metals. Please make sure that you keep metals in a separate pile so the metal can be recycled.  The trucks will move at different paces, so the piles will be collected at different times.

Illegal Dumping - The kerbside is public land. Any materials placed on the kerbside after the collection starts or in breach of the collection requirements may be considered littering or waste pollution of land which are prosecutable offences under the POEO Act, 1997.
Council Rangers will take enforcement action for illegal dumping where waste is unlawfully placed on public land. All material placed on the kerbside is considered the property owner or tenant's responsibility until collected by Council.
