Special Purpose Committees

Council also has special purpose committees, as listed below, which meet on an as required basis. 

  • Planning ReviewConsists of all Councillors and the General Manager or nominated delegate (any staff member to be non-voting delegate), however it only needs a quorum of three Councillors to meet.
  • Byron Shire Reserve Trust - Consists of all Councillors – has delegated authority to determine matters.
  • Strategic Planning Committee - This Committee has delegated authority to determine all matters relating to the business of the Council, other than those items a Council cannot delegate as listed in section 377(1) of the Act subject to each item of business being determined by the Committee having been publicly notified in accordance with the Code of Meeting Practice.

The above Special Purpose Committees adhere to Council’s Code of Meeting Practice Policy 1.3 and related legislation.
