Pothole Patching

Council undertakes two types of pothole patching. Bitumen hotmix or Jetmaster truck. For more information on these methodologies please click here. Whilst we endeavour to adhere to our work schedule, we do respond to changes in the road conditions with regards to usage and conditions dictated by weather. Inclement weather may cause delays. 

Council’s contract pothole patching crew operates on a seven week cycle through the urban townships listed below. These works are undertaken in accordance with Council's Risk Management Procedures. 

  • Bangalow
  • Brunswick Heads
  • Byron Bay
  • Mullumbimby
  • Ocean Shores
  • South Golden Beach (including Billinudgel & New Brighton)
  • Suffolk Park

Schedule of works 


Council's contractor will undertake pot hole patching work in the locations listed below on any given two days within the period. We will endeavour to complete all streets as time and materials permit. 

  • Byron Bay - Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July
  • Mullumbimby Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July
  • South Golden Beach, Billinudgel, New Brighton - Monday 17 July to Friday 21 July
  • Ocean Shores - Monday 24 July to Friday 28 July
  • Brunswick Heads - Monday 31 July to Friday 4 August

Council has engaged a 2nd Jetmaster for a two week period to patch potholes in urban locations. This machine will start in the north of the Shire in the Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach, New Brighton, Billinudgel townships. Council's Street Sweeper will follow within 2-3 days to clear away any loose gravel left behind.
