Love Byron Halls

Council invites Expressions of Interest for Community Membership
on the following Management Committees:

Lone Goat Gallery, Byron Bay
and
Cook Pioneer Centre, Mullumbimby

If you answered yes, we would you like to encourage you to join a Section 355 Management Committee or Board.

Love Byron Halls is an initiative to celebrate your halls and venues as spaces to get together. We want you to help create a new history in your town or village. Research shows that community involvement in managing community facilities provides better outcomes for locals while engaging and including local people and providing an opportunity to participate in local community life.

Council is currently calling for nominations for additional members to the Lone Goat Gallery located in the Byron Bay Library building and the Cook Pioneer Centre in Gordon Street, Mullumbimby.

Venue Coordinator

Bangalow A&I Hall and/or Mullumbimby Civic Hall

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified individuals for Venue Coordination of one or both of the following venues:

  • Bangalow A&I Hall, Station St, Bangalow
  • Mullumbimby Civic Hall, 55 Dalley St, Mullumbimby

An Expression of Interest package outlining the Roles and Responsibilities/ Fees for Payment and Draft Contract Agreement is available on Council’s webpage at www.byron.nsw.gov.au/expressions-of-interest. The term of contract is for a 12 month period, subject to review, commencing 1 July 2017.

Applicants need to address the selection criteria (refer to EOI package) which includes: established connections with the Byron Shire, proven skills and ability with community venue coordination; demonstrated sound interpersonal and customer service skills, demonstrated experience working in a community facility with a community run management committee; sound knowledge of contemporary issues relating to event and venue management and experience in strategic marketing, communications and promotion.

Integrated Planning and Reporting Documents 2017

Council has resolved to place the following draft Integrated Planning and Reporting documents on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. The documents bring together Council’s various strategies, plans and budgets to provide services, infrastructure, and to ensure future sustainability.

  • Delivery Program 2017-2021 and Operational Plan 2017-2018 (including the Statement of Revenue Policy, Budget, and Fees and Charges)
  • Draft Community Strategic Plan 2027 (minor revisions to the 2022 version. Note that a comprehensive review of the Community Strategic Plan will commence in the 2017-2018 financial year)

You have until Thursday 18 May to provide your feedback on the draft documents and in particular the four year Delivery Program Actions identified in the Delivery Program 2017-2021 and Operational Plan 2017-2018.  Feedback from the community will be reported to Council on 22 June 2017 to help determine Council’s focus over the next four years.

Submissions should be made in writing and addressed to the General Manager, Byron Shire Council, PO Box 219 Mullumbimby 2482 or sent by email to submissions@byron.nsw.gov.au. Emailed submissions to this address only will be acknowledged.

Submissions will be made public in accordance with Schedule 1 Part 3 Clause 1(a)(vi) within Schedule 5 Part 2 of the GIPA 2009 Regulations as applicable including both the substance of the submission and the identity of the author. Upper Coopers Creek Road, Upper Coopers Creek - Geotechnical Investigation

Byron Shire Council wishes to advise geotechnical investigation works are scheduled to commence on Friday 28 April 2017 between the hours of 8am to 5pm, weather permitting.

The work zone is approximately 800m north of Upper Coopers Creek School. (See attached diagram). Upper Coopers creek road will be closed at the work zone from 8am to 5pm Friday 28/4/17.

Geotechnical investigations are planned to be undertaken through the existing pavement embankment to allow the examination of the ground profile at two landslip sites.

Geotechnical data obtained from the investigations will help facilitate landslip remediation design. These investigations will include the drilling of boreholes using a truck mounted drill rig positioned on the road immediately above each landslip site.

Please be advised that any residents wishing to travel via vehicle past the works site must do so before 8 AM and after 5 PM on 28 Friday 2017.  Once the drill rig is established, it can will be moved for extreme emergency incidents only i.e. Emergency Services.

The work site will be under Traffic Control for all stages and motorists must obey all instructions.  Additional advice regarding the project and wet weather delays will be available on Council’s webpage.
