Commercial Use of Road Reserves

At Council’s Ordinary Meeting held on 26 October 2017 it resolved to place the Commercial Use of Road Reserves Policy on public exhibition for a period of 28 days for the making of public submissions. Due to the Christmas break and public holidays the exhibition period has been extended for a further 21 days.

The objective of this Policy is to facilitate the commercial use of road reserves within the Byron Shire. This includes the commercial use of footpaths as well as mobile food vendor industries which take advantage of the economic, cultural and social benefits within the Byron Shire in order to service the local community and tourist population. These objectives are balanced against the protection of the Byron Shire’s current retail sector and the maintenance of public health.

Submissions should be made in writing and addressed to the General Manager, Byron Shire Council, PO Box 219 Mullumbimby 2482 or sent by email to submissions@byron.nsw.gov.au. Emailed submissions to this address only will be acknowledged.

Submissions will be made public in accordance with Schedule 1 Part 3 Clause 1(a)(vi) within Schedule 5 Part 2 of the GIPA 2009 Regulations as applicable including both the substance of the submission and the identity of the author. Proposed Licence for property at Carlyle Street, Byron Bay

Part Lot 444 Section 28 DP 758207

Council proposes to licence the part of Lot 444 Section 28 DP 758207 located at Carlyle Street Byron Bay for a period of one (1) year to Andrew Bates Tennis Pty Ltd for the purpose of a tennis club, tennis court hire, tennis coaching and associated activities.

In accordance with Section 47 of the Local Government Act 1993 interested parties are invited to make submissions about this proposal within 28 days.
