Public amenities
Please refer to The National Public Toilet Map www.toiletmap.gov.au for a list of public amenities within the Byron Shire area. This site provides information on the location, opening hours and availability of wheelchair access for more than 14,000 public and private amenities across Australia.
Council has a commitment to improving the accessibility of its public facilities, and there are several wheelchair accessible public amenities in the Byron Shire fitted with a Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK).
What is the Master Locksmith Access Key?
The Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) is a system that has been developed by disability groups to provide secure and safe access to public facilities such as toilets.
The MLAK opens all accessible amenities displaying the MLAK symbol and will allow access to over 170 facilities throughout NSW 24 hours a day. A MLAK sign is attached to those facilities fitted with MLAK.
Residents and visitors who may need to utilise these accessible toilets are urged to obtain a key.
