Planning & Resources
The Tourism Management Plan (TMP) is Council’s 10-year strategy for managing tourism in Byron Shire. The TMP was adopted with the key objectives of promoting a sustainable approach to tourism which aligns with community values and expectations.
As part of Destination NSW processes Council also undertook a collaborative project with Destination Byron to establish a Destination Management Plan for Byron Shire.
A copy of the full unabridged version of the DMP is available to anyone in the industry interested in applying for Regional Visitor Economy Funds. If you have an eligible project under the Regional Visitor Economy Fund, Council would be pleased to hear from you about possible collaboration opportunities.
Destination NSW and Tourism Research Australia are the key providers of statistical data collected on domestic and international visitation; and tourism economy research. See also Byron Shire Council’s data dashboard and profiling tool kit.
