Welcome to the latest edition of the sustainability@byron newsletter. Thanks to everyone that came along to the 'Food Production on Public Land Community Launch' at Council Chambers on 4 April! Highlights included patches of blue sky, special guest Jerry Coleby-Williams' gardening tales from the food-scarce WII era, as well as the sumptuous food from Mullumbimby Community Garden crew! New Rebate Fact Sheet

Not quite sure about getting that new solar hot water system or ceiling insulation? Byron Council has prepared a new straight-forward information sheet outlining the range and dollar value of energy and water rebates currently available to local householders.

You could save hundred of dollars on utility bills by installing a solar or rainwater harvesting system. These rebates provide a significant economic incentive to take action in response to climate change, while cutting those dreaded energy and water bills.

Sustainable Streets Open Day

The next Sustainable Streets open day is from 9:30am Saturday 9th May, in New City Road, Mullumbimby with a *compost bonanza* theme! Come and learn all about the simple art of composting and no-dig gardening to reduce your eco-impact. Free to all Stuart and New City Road (Mullumbimby) residents and an entry donation of $5 for all others. Mullumbimby Community Garden (MCG) - Composting Loo-Do!

The MCG mob are organising a massive fundraiser from 11am - 10pm on Saturday 9th May in the Civic Hall in Mullum to raise funds for a new composting toilet system. Loads of activities, films, music, displays and good food guaranteed! Mark the date in your diary now and stay tuned for more details.
