Mobility maps
Byron Shire Council is committed to ensuring people with limited mobility can access services and facilities in the Shire. One of the actions of Council's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (2008-2013) in helping to address practical barriers to access, was for Council to develop a Mobility Map for key locations in the Shire.
The Mobility Map is now available and has been developed and compiled in consultation with the Access Project Group (PRG). The maps covering the key retail centres of Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Bangalow and Brunswick Heads, are designed to support people (locals and visitors) with limited mobility, including those in wheelchairs, on walking frames, gophers and even those using prams to access facilities.
The maps have been prepared as individual A4 maps or as an A3 brochure style map and are available as downloads. Click on the individual maps to see a larger image of a town or click on the brochure image to open the full brochure which includes each town.
The A3 brochure style map provides easy to read maps for each town centre and a legend which includes accessible toilets, car parks, kerb crossings, steep gradients, ATMs, taxi stands and bus stops. The other side provides further important information about public amenities and the Master locksmith's Access key (MLAK) system, transport, parking and important contact numbers in the Shire.
Printed A3 maps are available from Byron Visitor's Centre, Byron Community and Cultural Centre, Brunswick Heads Visitor Information Centre, Heath's Old Wares and Heritage House at Bangalow, Mullumbimby Newsagent, Mullumbimby Museum and Council's Administration Centre.
If you are not able to access the maps and images in PDF format please Council's Aged and Disability Officer, Tuesday to Thursday.
