Annual kerbside clean up for Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach, New Brighton and Brunswick Heads
Byron Shire Council is asking residents in OceanShores (North & South), SouthGoldenBeach, New Brighton, Brunswick Heads to put out their bulky items kerbside for collection.
Council’s waste and recycling services manager Russell Chaplin said collection staff will be picking up the bulky goods in these areas from Monday 22 June until Friday 26 June.
“This is householders’ chance to get rid of unwanted bulky items in the yearly free kerbside cleanup,” he said.
“The service is only available to households who receive a weekly Council household waste service.
“Each household is limited to 2 cubic metres of waste,” Mr Chaplin said.
The kerbside pickup in ByronBay, SuffolkPark, Baywood Chase, ByronHills and Broken Head finishes this week.
Residents in Bangalow, Mullumbimby, Andersons Hill, Ewingsdale, and SunriseBeach are asked to put out bulky items from the week starting 21 June and collection will be completed by 3 July.
To assist with the collection, Council is asking residents to separate the items into two neat piles; one for bulky waste items and the other for metal items.
“Two trucks will be collecting the different types of waste. One truck is for waste and the other for metals,” Mr Chaplin said.
“We are urging all residents to keep bulky metal items in separate piles in order to assist with recycling.
“Residents are asked to ensure their waste is placed at the kerb before the collection in their area starts.
“Council can not return to collect waste material that is put out after the collection starts,” he said.
