$10,000 event funding available

Ten thousand dollars is on offer in Byron Shire for events and festivals.

The funding pool is seeking applications from event organisers who run significant home grown and emerging events.

Mayor Simon Richardson said the grants have been established to help build community capacity to hold events and encourage organisers to build sustainability principles into their events.

“Our shire is renowned for hosting and cultivating some of the best events and festivals in Australia.

“Many have started from very humble beginnings and we are keen to support new and emerging events that represent who we are.

“From sporting, spiritual, food, art and music, Council’s grant funding aims to encourage local events that will showcase the very best of our people, produce and place,” he said.
