Wilsons Creek Road closed for three days

Wilsons Creek Road will be closed to all traffic this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (9,10 and 11 February, 2012).

            Thursday                                9.45am to 2pm

Friday and Saturday             9.45am to 3pm

Byron Shire Council’s community infrastructure works manager Tony Nash said the road needed to be closed to allow for urgent geotechnical borehole testing of the site.

“The testing is needed so we can do further assessments on the road slip and determine the best way to fix the road permanently,” Mr Nash said.

The Wilson Creek Road slip occurred on Australia Day, 50 metres past the Wilsons Creek School.

To enable parents to attend the Wilson’s Creek Public School Swimming Carnival on Thursday 9 February, works will cease one hour earlier, at 2pm, and the road will be open under traffic control conditions.

During these urgent works there will be NO VEHICULAR ACCESS on Wilsons Creek Road from the Wilson’s Creek Public School, 300m to the west.

Emergency Services will be able to access the area ONLY for emergency response situations

Pedestrian access is available thought the worksite under the direction of traffic controllers.

Council apologises for any inconvenience it causes for residents in the Wilson Creek Area.
