Road slip - Wilson's Creek Road

A land slip has occurred on Wilsons Creek Road near the Primary School.

The road has slipped below the road pavement into the creek. The road has been closed to one lane only and Byron Shire Council traffic controllers are on site.

Council's executive manager of community infrastructure Phil Holloway said due to safety, the road has been restricted to one lane and access is only  available to light vehicles.

"There is a concern that the road may slip further and the road will need to be closed in both directions.

"Council staff will be at the site 24 hours monitoring the situation. Residents in the area are being asked to stock up on food and essential supplies, including any medications, in case the road needs to be closed."

Council has contacted the SES for preliminary discussions about ongoing supply of food and essential items if the road has to be closed completely to all traffic. Information is available via the myroadinfo website, speaking to the traffic controllers onsite and the SES.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes known. Wilson's Creek Primary School has been advised of the situation.

Parents are advised to contact the school directly about returning to school next week.
